Visit us on Virb. Get free music.

We haven’t said so before, but we’ve added a new link in the chain of our presence on the Web. It’s called Virb, and it’s a social networking site that’s very much like Myspace.com, only much, much better. For individuals the list of reasons Virb is superior to Myspace is fairly long. Suffice it to say, Virb is more powerful, more flexible, more customizable, and better looking than Myspace. Myspace still has a heavy advantage in the number of users, but otherwise, Myspace pales in comparison.

For musicians and musical organizations (e.g., record labels, music magazines/blogs), the advantages are similar, but I want to highlight two key features. First, we’re able to offer our listeners streaming audio of everything we’ve recorded. Not just four songs like Myspace, but everything. And you can view our songs in an integrated player, switching among our records.

We can also offer selected songs as free downloads. For example, you can download four songs from our latest record for free. And, for a limited time, we’re offering our entire first record, Kicker Wisdom, for free. It includes a non-album remix of “Out Loud.” Our Great Breakfast EP is also available for free. All together, you can download 19 tracks spanning three different recordings.

The second key advantage is that Virb imports our existing blog, so that visitors to our Virb site can read our latest post without having to visit two different sites. It’s good for us, too, because we only have to post something once and it shows up in four places: our blog, our Web site, our ReverbNation profile, and now Virb. That kind of functionality would be even more useful if we had a large following. :)

Half-kidding aside, we invite you visit our Virb site, download some songs, and take a look around. Should you decide you want your own Virb profile, let me know. I’ll send you an invite. If you’re one of our pals who’s in a band and you’d like some extra space to host your songs, I definitely suggest you check it out.
